Let me tell you a story….

Monday, September 6th, 2010

This is a true story and is quite remarkable… almost 65 years ago to the day, a farmer’s wife sent her husband out to choose a chicken to cook for their dinner. So doing as he was told (as men always do!), the farmer chose a plump young bird and did the deed us townies dread to think about and cut off his head…

… the chicken did what most headless chickens do and ran aimlessly around the farmyard. Later, when the farmer went to pick up his chicken, amazingly he found it still alive and he quickly found a way to feed it with an eyedropper and to make this story short, the chicken lived for another 18 months and became a bit of a celebrity!

Seriously, if you don’t believe me Google “Mike the headless Chicken”!

Anyway, I get back to the point of my email, which is even faced with unbelieveable diversity, it is amazing what some tenacity and determination can do to add to that natural survival instinct we have… before you ask, I am actually a human and this is not a chicken writing this!!

Now at PrintRepublic, unfortunately we don’t have such an honourable job as saving lives (or chopping off chicken’s heads!), but we do work with business people across the UK to help them produce great printed literature and websites to help them promote their businesses.

Our FREE Business cards offer has been a rip roaring success and we have had fantastic feedback and we are working with more and more companies to produce great business identities, fantastic promotional literature and websites that generate leads and enquiries.

Leaflet Printing for Summertime

Monday, August 9th, 2010

It’s the peak of summer and many lucky Brits decide to take a break abroad or just get some time off to spend time with the family or do a little DIY. At this time of year less people are thinking about work and financial commitments. This means it can get pretty quiet during July and August for many businesses. Leaflet printing could be a great way to drum up some business during quiet times like these.

Make your printed leaflets seasonal. In the summer you can get away with using lots of bright vibrant colours to create a visually appealing leaflet. Quite often during off peak seasons businesses use special offers and discounts these could be added to your leaflets to give you something to say to your potential customers.

Not all businesses will be quiet during summer and you may find July and August are your busiest times. For example if you are a mobile hairdresser or makeup artist lots more people get married in the summer and therefore they may need your services. If you got leaflets printed that had the theme of “getting married this summer” that would work well.

Maybe you are a house sitter or you can look after pets whilst people go on holiday this would mean July and August are very busy times of the year. Reach your summer audience by asking who is going to water the plants and feed the fish?

Whether you are quiet or busy during the summer printing leaflets to communicate with new customers is a great way to get your business noticed.

Colour Leaflet Printing

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Printing colour leaflets is a great way to make a big impact with your business promotion. Using colour is something we undervalue and something that is very beneficial when printing leaflets. Every day life is full of colour which makes a good case for printing coloured leaflets.

If you can depict vibrant colourful images in your promotional leaflets you will make a lasting impression. For example if you are a landscape gardener looking to print leaflets a lush green image of a recent garden you have completed with shades of green will convey to prospective customers the quality of your work.

Coloured leaflet printing the impact on customers

Colour leaflets can have a huge impact in the perception of your company. Certain colours are used in different circumstances. Red typically depicts danger or warning, think of stop signs. Purple is known for its luxury image and is often used by chocolate manufacturers. Think about your business and what colours are typically used to depict your industry.

If your business is aimed at children bright colours are ideal. Using the primary colours red, blue and yellow will connect your printed leaflets to imagery of children. If however your business is in the health industry you will probably want to use blues and greens, these colours are typically associated with health.

Colour leaflets look good whether you are using A4, A5 or A6 and should be incorporated into your leaflet design whatever sector your business is in. If your industry is a serious service then you should not be afraid to use colour just be a little more subtle go for lighter shades.

When designing your colour leaflets depending on which sector you work in there may be some colours you want to avoid. For example if you run a dating agency you should avoid green, the colour typically associated with jealousy. Instead you should use pinks and reds the colours for romance.

How can I use colour on my leaflet printing?

There are so many ways you can integrate colour onto your printed leaflets. You may want to use coloured edges to make your leaflet stand out. You may want to use colour in the background, so should you find a pin board to add your leaflet it jumps off the wall to passersby.

Colour can be used to write the content on your leaflet. When deciding on colours to write text make sure the colour used contrasts with the colour which makes up the back ground of your printed leaflet. This is because you want your leaflet to be easy to read. Steer well clear of yellow on white as this is very difficult to read.

If you don’t want coloured text or a colourful background perhaps you may just have a colourful logo. If you want to show pictures of products coloured pictures are far more effective than black and white. If you want colour leaflet printing contact Print Republic for a quote today.

I have printed flyers, what now?

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Business leaflets are great for advertising your products and services and it allows people to learn more about your business but once you have spent the time designing your flyers and getting them printed; what exactly do you do with them? The answer is simple; hand them out everywhere to everyone! Printing leaflets in bulk is the best way to gain interest from them as playing the numbers game is a great way to achieve successful advertising.

Advertising online seems to have taken over the world but do not make the mistake of forgetting to use business leaflets as a means of advertising. Flyers and leaflets can be placed anywhere from community centres and shops to places of work, university notice boards and churches. Even the local laundry or supermarket may have an advertising board for such things. The benefits of advertising with promotional leaflets are that it is cheap, easy to organise and simple to do.

Some places of business may even allow you to advertise through them so if you run boarding kennels for pets you could try asking around the local vets to see if they would allow you to advertise in their window or at their counter. Promotional leaflets are simple to design, print and hand out and using vouchers or pull off tabs on a flyer means your flyer can continue to circulate and you will also know how many customers you are getting thanks to your flyers.

Cheap and reliable printing services can be enjoyed at Print Republic and while the rest of the world is going Internet crazy; you can focus on advertising the good old fashioned way and plug into a whole crowd of people that are not online.

Printing Leaflets with WOW factor

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Being funky, innovative and eye catching should all be considered when you create business leaflets to advertise your product, event or service. Dull leaflets lead to dull responses and being eye catching needn’t mean using garish colours or kitsch designs. You can match your business type with an appealing leaflet design without producing something that is out of context. A flyer used to advertise health related subjects can be serious as well as appealing by using the right colours and language. While a club flyer can be as psychedelic and colourful as you please.

Be sensitive to your potential audience make sure you appeal to who you want to appeal to and forget about being attractive to the masses. There is no point in attracting vegetarians to a barbecue, in the same way you don’t need to be appealing to people that won’t use your business. Spruce up a design by adding a touch of something different. This can be done by using different materials such as sand or cotton wool on your business leaflets but again, make sure that it is relevant to what you are advertising.

For example, if you are a private hair dresser then use a picture of a face on the front of your business leaflets that boasts real hair that customers can touch and if you run a children’s farm or daycare centre use cotton wool in a playful way as part of a picture of a sheep. Funking up a design is the fun part and turning a dull club flyer with pictures of a few people dancing can be done with some glitter and leaflets advertising sales can include money-off deals as part of the leaflet to encourage people to keep hold of them. Whatever type of leaflet you are designing be sure to make it fresh and don’t be afraid to funk it up a little.

Leaflet printing: If you offer it; give it!

Friday, January 8th, 2010

There is a wide variety of designs and styles of promotional leaflets out there with many promising you the world, but how many actually deliver what they offer and how important is it to actually back your promises up? There is only one answer to this; VERY! There is nothing worse than seeing a leaflet all jazzed up to the nines advertising something that really gets your juices flowing to make your way there only to be turned away by the 18-year-old staff member who look like they wouldn’t care anymore if you turned up with bells on claiming they don’t know how to put your voucher through the till so you can’t use it!

Business leaflets must only advertise what you are willing to actually provide or you risk alienating potential customers before they have a chance to be a customer! This happened recently with a famous sandwich chain when they advertised the chance for readers of a newspaper to get a £2 breakfast sub for only 40p. Sounds great, right? Wrong, because the offer proved to be so popular one branch got so fed up with locals queuing out of the door with their coupons that they started to turn people away.

Not a great experience if you are on a lunch break and have spent 30 minutes standing in a busy queue with your newspaper coupon. In fact, I will never use this particular branch again out of principle and maybe a touch of pride. Promotional leaflets should only promote a service or product that you are able to deliver so if you can’t give away 40p subs for breakfast do not claim that you can! Business leaflets are an ideal way to advertise, just make sure that what you are advertising is genuine as getting people through the door is pointless if when they walk out they want to slam it in your face!

If you are looking for promotional leaflets for your business contact Print Republic today we can help you from design concept through to printing of your leaflets.

Leaflet printing – Design the ultimate leaflet

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Promotional leaflets are important to the success of your brand as there is little point in developing a product/service without letting people know that it exists. Without the ability to advertise you cannot sell and without the ability to sell what is the point is all of your hard work? Your leaflet much be designed in a way that clearly explains your product/service as well as how they can contact you and purchase your offering.

A border always works well as a way to give dirty fingertips somewhere to imprint that does not have an impact on your information. A title/description of what you are providing should be short and concise plus the all important catchy slogan. Be funny and creative to get people’s attention. Just because they are business leaflets doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with them.

Designing leaflets isn’t that complicated and the most important decisions will be whether you want coloured leaflets, folded leaflets, double or single sided and where to get them printed. Be consistent so if you go for a multi-layered leaflet printed on both sides then makes sure the border, company logo and colouring system is the same throughout to make it obvious who you are and what you are offering. Pictures or photographs work well as many use visual ideas when they create an opinion about something and promotional leaflets are designed to promote; so don’t be afraid to push your offerings.

Bright colours are always eye catching and successful business leaflets will pay full attention to making the brand obvious at a quick glance as well as being relevant to whatever your are promoting. If you run a day car centre for children use photo’s of smiling children playing and if you run a kennels create a funny dog cartoon and place it on the front. A little creativity goes a long way in the world of printing………….

UK leaflet printing: Promotional leaflets

Monday, October 12th, 2009

A reliable printing service is a vital service to many businesses and leaflets are a popular way to advertise a whole array of things from services and sales through to products and special events.

What size leaflets should I use?

A5 leaflets are a popular choice of size as they are small and simple to carry. These are ideal if you wish to promote an event, service or product that requires little detail i.e. a club flyer or rave flyer that simply needs to include a time, place and date. A4 leaflets are better suited to event, products and services that require a little more detail such as a sale i.e. What products the sale includes, what kind of discounts there are, pictures of the products for an interest factor, where, when and how to get there etc.

Promotional leaflets can also come in different styles, some with photographs and pictures and others simply black and white. A printing service will be able to offer you a wide choice of designs, sizes and prices and all will available in different colours and text sizes. A5 flyers as well as A6 flyers are also a good choice for advertising and business leaflets should reflect the type of service that you are offering.

Promotional leaflets for children’s events, products or services can be advertised in loud colours with fun, large and bold text to make it obvious what you are advertising. Business leaflets for sales should advertise their discounts to draw in the crowds and above all else, it is crucial to find business printing services that offer affordable prices as there is no point in spending big money on the printing service and only break even or worse after the actual event!
