Printing Company: Printing Direct Mail Shots

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Do you use a printing company for your direct mail campaigns? Are you no longer using a printing service and opting for email instead? You will be intrerested in this if you prefer the printed direct mail route.

The Royal Mail is helping to kick start the Direct Mail industry by reducing its postal costs for the MailSort 3 service, which is used for posting direct mail.

The introduction of email marketing has caused printing companies who previously supplied businesses with a printing service for direct mail drops a hit. The low cost of email marketing compared to direct mail has caused many companies to cut back on printing direct mail.

As of the 26th October the new rates introduced by the Royal Mail will mean a 500,000 piece campaign will cost £3k less than it does currently.

The reduced cost of running a direct mail campaign will certainly create more work for printing companies who print direct mail. The new reduced rates are said to be costing Royal Mail around £150m.

Business cards in mailshots

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Business cards can be used in a variety of ways as a chance to self promote a business, from handing them out in the local bakery to using them in mailshots. Getting a top quality business card printing service to organise your printing is the only way to ensure that the money spent on them is money well spent.

Mailshots is a term that refers to advertising that is sent through the mail to potential clients that literally advertises the services of a company. They come in different forms as some smaller businesses may choose to go round door to door and personally drop the quality business cards through the letterbox and larger companies may prefer to mail them in the post with other information like brochures and leaflets.

Utilising business cards to their utmost potential is firstly about making sure that the business card printing service that you use is a good one and secondly about making sure that you use them at every opportunity possible. There is a difference between warm and cold advertising with warm having a distinct success advantage over cold. As long as you have secured yourself cheap business cards you can hand out as many as possible to whomever and whenever you want.

Cold advertising is when companies randomly hand out cards to people who may or may not be interested and warm is when the company already knows that the person is a potential client as they have either expressed an interest. For example, an estate agent may see a ‘for sale’ sign up and decide to pop a quality business card through the letterbox and this could be distinguished as being somewhere in the middle. Whatever your technique, quality business cards work when it comes to business promotion.
